L-1 is to provide New York state residents with more than 75 new facilities for fingerprinting, background checks and processing of other data required for applications to certain jobs and state licenses.

L-1 Identity Solutions, Inc. has been selected by the State of New York as the winning bidder for a five-year contract estimated at up to $250 million to provide enrollment services through the Division of Criminal Justice Services (DCJS). The contract, which is in the process of finalization, is with the Enrollment Services Division of L-1 and is expected to include two additional one-year renewals for potential combined contract duration of up to seven years.

L-1 expects most network traffic to come initially from processing for the Office of Children and Family Services, Department of Health, Department of Motor Vehicles and the Department of State. In addition to these DCJS submissions, L-1 will offer its service centers to banks for processing American Bankers Association (ABA), Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA) and The Clearinghouse submissions, as well as FINRA submissions from brokerages.

L-1 initially expects to process more than 200,000 applicants annually in New York state. This figure could grow to over a half a million prints annually if the network is utilized by other state agencies and employers.

"This is an important win for us as we now have a strong enrollment services presence in the top five most heavily populated states including California, Texas, Florida, Illinois and now New York," said Robert V. LaPenta, Chairman, President and CEO of L-1 Identity Solutions. "The range of enrollment services we offer, the superior technology behind it, and our strong customer service capabilities has made L-1 the preferred provider across the U.S."
