APC Ui range provides a comprehensive solution to security access and health and safety problems
Companies looking for an alternative to using traditional cash payments might be interested in the Ui-Pay system. It uses the same principle of top-up cards, using the Ui-Band instead but the bonus is that it also comes with some added extras. These include using the Ui-Band at vending machines and electronic point of sale tills (EPOS).
There is also an option to introduce the Ui-Pay through a staff salary sacrifice-type scheme, whereby items are paid for in company buildings via a programmed Ui-Band. The amount spent is recorded electronically at the till and the amount owed is then taken from a staff member’s salary at the end of the month.
The Ui-Band is a comfortable, waterproof, silicon RFID wristband. This wristband expands the current use of RFID technologies within the leisure market, allowing park and leisure facilities managers greater secondary spend opportunities than ever before.
In conjunction with the Ui-Band product, APC have also exclusively designed Ui-Time for the leisure industry and specifically water parks, which is used along with Ui-Sense. In fact, these products are already installed and in use at one of the country’s leading water parks.
The traditional timer-based systems in the park are replaced by this new sensor-based product meaning the stop/go “traffic” lights on each ride are controlled by the position of the person rather than being based on a programmed time. This also helps the park adhere to the HSE recommendations of customer control for a park like this.
Since the ‘Ui’ products were installed, the water park has seen a reduction in queuing times, increased customer safety and an increased throughput of customers during their peak opening time. As part of the package, the technology also allows visitors to the park to record their rideusage. All this information is transferred to a central database allowing visitors to take home a specially designed fun certificate providing customers with a memento of their day, showing; Individual ride counts, ride times, ride speeds and total distance travelled in meter down the slides throughout the day (Ui-Sense is needed for ride speed and times). This in turn, also helps to increase the secondary spend revenue of the water park.
Safety is a key concern and using the Ui-Time system, the park operators are able to see in real time how many people have entered the building and the total capacity and footfall. Ui-Time also allows ride statistics to be stored, allowing essential maintenance and staffing schedules to be planned more accurately.
With the Ui-Lock system it’s not just the leisure industry that can have a modern approach to security. This system can be used in offices, commercial premises, leisure facilities or even in your own home.
By using RFID smartcard technology to control lockable storage, users can be reassured that once their belongings are placed in a locker they can only be accessed by the card or wristband they hold or by a staff member.
Some of the other benefits include reduced maintenance for management, easy control over a large number of lockers by letting reception know how many lockers are being used at any one time and the ability to remove lost cards from the system.
Trevor Davies, a company director at APC, is proud of their ‘Ui’ products and the benefits they bring. He said: “APC specialises in security and access solutions for a range of clients from local government organisations and leisure parks right through to national construction firms.
“The ‘Ui’ range provides a comprehensive solution to many security, access and health and safety problems that are experienced by a large number of companies. It is through our extensive experience of the security industry that we were able to pinpoint some of the gaps in the market and design products that really deliver.
“We developed the ‘Ui’ range to work as standalone products but we also designed them so that they can be integrated together to suit the system required. All our products are easy to use and simple to maintain, and most importantly we believe they can significantly benefit both the companies and customers who use them.”
“One of the strengths of our company has been to be ability to offer bespoke solutions for our customer’s. Most other companies will only offer an off the shelf system. By working closely with our customers, we are able to deliver a system that will exceed the customer’s original specification and expectations.”
